About us

History

Welcome to Campus Kristiania! We are an educational institution with a long and interesting history.

Ernst G. Mortensen established the institution in 1914. Back then, the opportunity to pursue higher education depended on your family background and financial situation. The programs on offer were also very limited, and were located to a few towns in Norway. Mortensen’s ambition was to provide education for people across broad economic, social, cultural and geographic barriers, barriers which otherwise prevented many people from advancing their education.

For a period of more than 90 years we have educated and trained more than 3 million Norwegians in a variety of disciplines. In 2005, the institution changed its name from OMH Business School to the Oslo School of Management to clearly highlight the field that the school focuses on. The Mercantile Institute (MI) also changed its name to the Norwegian School of Creative Studies and the Norwegian Commercial College.

Campus Kristiania has evolved to become one of the largest educational institutions in Norway. Every year, the institution educates about 7 000 students in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Drammen and Tønsberg, and on our virtual campus by means of distance education.
